This watch is still a coveted masterpiece for many watch collectors. In 1989, IWC succeeded in creating the Ingenieur model 3508. In 2005, one of IWC&#8217;s most famous timepiece collections, the Ingenieur, returned to the world of watchmaking: the ultimate mechanical engineering achievement. The new generation of Ingenieur watches can cope with all kinds of shocks, knocks and vibrations. This large Ingenieur with a 45.5 mm diameter case in steel, equipped with an extra large caliber 51113, a Pillaton automatic winding system and a seven-day power reserve, shocked the watchmaking world when it was unveiled in 2007. A year later, platinum and rose gold versions were launched. While the IWC Pilot&#8217;s Watches are inspired by the sky, the Aquatimer collection comes from the sea, and the Ingenieur has its origins on land. It therefore seems logical that the actual function of the Ingenieur Automatic Mission Earth should be mentioned in its name.
